Scripture:  Moses 2:1 -  ...Behold, I reveal unto you concerning this heaven, and this earth...I am the Beginning and the End, the Almighty God; by mine Only Begotten I created these things; yea, in the beginning I created the heaven, and the earth upon which thou standest.

Opening Song: My Heavenly Father Loves Me (PCS #228)

Creation is a very important part of the Plan of Salvation.  God is the creator of our spirits.

(show GAK 600: The World)

God and Jesus Christ created the earth and everything on it. They created the light and dark.

(show GAK 100: Living Creatures)

The animals and plants.  The water and the land.  Everything we see around us was once created.

God has given His children the desire and ability to create things, just like He has.  When we are creative we exercise our minds and bodies. We express our feelings. We make beautiful things. When we create beautiful things we become more like our Heavenly Father.  Creation brings happiness.

We are creative every day even when we don't realize.  You are creative.  It takes creativity to put together an outfit.   It takes creativity to see pictures in the clouds. It takes creativity to color.  It takes creativity to sing and dance and play.

Everyone can create. Sometimes we think we should only do creative things we are already really good at. Our that we have to have lots of money to make things that are beautiful.  Sometimes we are afraid that if we create something it won't be perfect. But those things don't matter.  What you create doesn’t have to be perfect. Don’t let fear of failing keep you from creating.

(Get your writing tool and paper)

- What are some things you like to create?
- What are some new ways to create things you would like to try?  You may consider finger painting, water painting, paper machier, clay, sculpture, collage, crafting, story-telling, poetry, sewing, knitting/crocheting, beadwork, scrapbooking, photography, etc.

If we take the time to create something of beauty and helpfulness, you make the world more beautiful and you become more beautiful too.

(Share some ways YOU or your spouse like to create. Share an item you created.  Share the feelings you had when you were making it and how you felt when you finished it.)

Bear your testimony about the happiness we feel when we are creative. Share the idea that our creative drive comes from our Heavenly Father and should be used to make the world beautiful.

(For tips on sharing your testimony please click here.)

Practice Song: If you are teaching your family the SEPTEMBER Song of the Month, go over the words and music with your family.
