Opening Song: Follow the Prophet - Verse 4 (PCS #110)
Lesson:
Before we came to Earth we lived in Heaven with our Heavenly Father. He is the father of our Spirits. As our father, He knows what is best for us. He knows what good things we need and what trials we need to help us grow. We should always trust Him. Sometimes the Lord commands us to do difficult things, but if we trust in Him everything will always turn out just like it should.
We are going to talk about a story from the Bible about a Prophet named Abraham who trusted in the lord.
For many long years Abraham and his wife, Sarah, had hoped to have a child. But they both grew old and felt it was too late for them to be blessed as they desired. Then one day three strangers came to visit Abraham. He made them welcome and gave them food. As they ate, one visitor asked, “Where is Sarah?” Then he prophesied, “She will have a son.”
Sarah overheard his words and laughed because she and Abraham were so old. But later Sarah and Abraham learned that the men who had come to their home were really heavenly visitors, and the prophecy was fulfilled. Sarah did have a son and they named him Isaac, which means rejoicing. The loved their son very much.
- How do you think Abraham felt about having to kill his son, who he loved so much?
- Do you think it would be hard for Abraham to obey the Lord?
He began his journey to the mountain early in the morning, taking Isaac, two young servants, a donkey, and wood for the burnt offering. On the third day of the journey, Abraham left the two servants and the donkey, saying that he and Isaac would go farther to worship.

Because Abraham was willing to obey, the Lord promised that he would have many descendants and that his family would bless all nations.
When we hear the story of Abraham and Isaac it reminds us of Heavenly Father and how difficult it was for Him to send His only son, Jesus Christ, to earth when He knew Jesus would be killed.

Another super lesson I can't wait to use! Thanks so much!!!!
You are so amazing! Thank you so much for taking so much of your time and planning all these! As a very busy mother, this helps me to make sure I am still planning Family Home Evening, and really teaching them valuable lessons!
You don't know how much I appreciate these lessons. Our family is benefiting SO much from your sweet service. Thank you!
Thanks for the lessons. They are great!
The best. Hands down.
Thank you so much! I'm really enjoying using your blog as my FHE resource. It's been so helpful for me because it's simple and geared towards little kids. I LOVE IT!
Thank you!
We named our son Isaac because it took us so long to get pregnant with him, but we have the meaning as "He laugheth", not "rejoicing". Interesting. Also, one of my favorite aspects of this story is that Isaac was pretty old when this happened, and it wasn't just Abraham's faith. He could have easily gotten away from his older father if he wanted, but he submitted to his father's will and consented to be tied up and killed. It's remarkable, the faith of those men.
Our little one is 3 and the printables/coloring pages are always a lifesaver. It's the perfect way to teach at their level. Thanks so much!
Can I just Say.. THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!! We have a CRAZY busy life (like most I'm sure!!!) more so these days it seams.. and with both of us working it makes it hard to plan a lesson!! thank you thank you!!!!!!!
Found you through Pinterest...love your lessons! Thank you for sharing your talents with all of us!
Thanks a bunch.
Thank you for the wonderful lessons! Even though my baby was crying, my 2 year old was ripping paper all over, my 5 & 7 year old got the lesson! And, by the 3rd time of singing the song of the month everyone was quiet & feeling the spirit! Sometimes it's hard, but we have to keep going. Thanks for the simple, short, easy to understand lessons! It doesn't seem fair that you've done all the work- and we get all the benefits, THANK YOU!!
I decided to give the Abraham & Issac lesson a try. With seven kids home from ages 15 to 4, I wasn't sure how it would go over, but it turned into one of our better lessons. I let the kids color the pictures while we talked about the lesson, and for once they ALL sat still and participated. I'll be back next week to try it again. Thanks!
This is the first week using your lesson! I have a 2 y/o that was pretty restless but my 4 y/o loved it! Thank you so much! We recently read about Abraham in our nightly scripture reading so it was great to review the story again. Thanks!
